I love Ubuntu, I really do, but I feel like they keep taking back old features. On the computer I am on right now, the upgrade made the computer look a lot better, but I couldn't start up the computer without going through a tutorial so I could get past a black screen, it can't play xvid videos (or any as far as I can tell), I can't get flash working at all and I can't log into myspace.
I am using this computer as a test to see if I should install it on all my other computers and see if it is better then the operating system they have now and it is not passing. And the operating system they run on now is Ubuntu 8.04!
I don't mean to have too high standards for people who are donating there time for free, I really appreciate all they have done, but this should not have moved past beta. As far as I can tell, if you have an intel graphics card you can't use it without a work around, at all. No output, just a frozen black screen.
Are they planning on releasing a new cd soon, like 8.10.1? Does the install check for updates? I sure hope they do, because if someone wants to use ubuntu, I would give them 8.04 and I wouldn't even mention that a newer one came out.
Regretfully,
Lexen
