Installing KDE

Hello all,

I just finished installing ubuntu 8.10. I installed KDE by doing


sudo aptitude install kde

This got me KDE 4.1(thats what it says on the splash screen) but it does not seem like it is KDE 4.1 as lots of things are missing in it.
When I try to change the display thru the display settings my whole screen goes haywire with lots of flickering and I have to restart my computer to fix it.
So, how do I remove the KDE completely and install it again without any problems?

The easiest way is to


sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

Do those command lines apply equally to installing KDE on top of a server install?
