[SOLVED] NX won't connect since upgrade to 8.10

Hi
I've upgraded my 8.04 yesterday night
reboot the computer
went to bed
this morning when I want to connect with NX
it connects ok with SSH, then open the window, but it disappears instantly and the nx client shuts down WITHOUT any error message...
I can connect to the computer with ssh and this part works ok.

Any clues ?

ok , it seems that gnome isn't installed properly (??)
I've installed kde to check if it was related only to gnome or to any window manager.
with kde, it works, so at least I have a usable desktop.
I've tried to remove and re-install gnome but no change...

any clues
