Ok here's my situation... I have no blank CDs but plenty of blank DVDs and i wont be able to get blank CDs for a while... So is there a way to burn the cd version on a dvd because i am desperate for ubuntu lol and the only disc i have is of 8.04 and when i do the cd check thing it says theres something wrong with the disc... So can i get a version that can be burnt to dvd? or can i take all the files off the cd iso and put them onto a dvd? Also if i do manage to get the 8.04 version to work can you upgrade to 8.10 through ubuntu? or do i need to make another disc?

If you have a fast network connection, get the DVD version then.

just burn the cd image to the DVD it'll boot just the same it doesn't care about the multi media type. I never burn it to cd's all I have is dvds and dual layers dvds at that!

yes you can upgrade through the installed system. and it sounds as though you have a corrupt image I'd suggest re downloading it! or ordering a new cd for FREE
