Hello, I am on a newly formed team, that is trying to build a personal watercraft. And I was put in charge of putting together calendaring software. Several people would be happy with just syncing thumb drives, however, I feel that this solution would lead to a lot of unnecessary hassle. So, I would like to put together a server and run the office suite on it, sort of like a web office.

Well, I have the server set up, but, I've come up short on the software side of things. I've tried opengoo, and at the moment, it looks like the best solution. But it still has a few problems, such as it's usability to sync with personal devices.

So, do any of you have any better software (that's free), that we could use as a calendering app? Thank you.

Zimbra (http://www.zimbra.com/community/downloads.html) may be what you need.

Have a look at egroupware, it is available in the repositories, there is a lot more than you need, but it does have calendaring and project managment.
