[SOLVED] Hardy (8.04) -> Intrepid Ibex (8.10), no new kernel (fixed)

I post this in hope it will help others, as I spent a day chasing ghosts.

I updated from 8.04 -> 8.10,

- no sound (Creative Xmod)
- no nvidia driver working

Then I realized the update had not upgraded the kernel (I ran earlier on the 386-kernel, but that is no longer available. Someone should point that out during installation or something. :confused:)

Upgrade to

2.6.27-7-generic

Everything works like a charm!
