Hi,
I downloaded Kubuntu-alternate-8.10 CD ISO. Then, made as CD and tried to include in synaptic through software sources under system -> administrator in Ubuntu 8.04. I got some error message and not added.
My requirement is, want to install kde-desktop in Ubuntu8.04 with help of CD, since I don't have high speed internet connection.

Is it not possible to install kde desktop (Kubuntu8.10) in Ubuntu 8.04? that is 8.10 cannot be used in 8.04?
Also, let me know from where i can find log file of software sources utility to update it in this thread for better clarity.

With advanced thanks,
prabath

Hey Prabhath,

I am not a very informed user by an stretch of the imagination, but I think the kdesktop for 8.10 is just that. Its meant for Ubuntu version 8.10 and would not work on a previous version of the OS. Again, I have never tried doing what you want to so this may not be a correct answer ...

But just to put out what little I know. BTW, any specific reason why you want to do this?

You can use the cd for update but it must be the alternate cd.

I know that It can be used for update.
My real question is

Is it possible to install KDE from Kubuntu-alternate-CD 8.10 in Ubuntu 8.04?

Please update me.
