[SOLVED] 8.10 problem

My brother updated ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10. During the update compiz and emerald turned off. After the computer restarted he couldn't login. All the other accounts on the computer worked. We searched on the forums and found out that the problem was with compiz. We removed compiz,emerald and compiz core and my brothers account worked again.We installed them again and his account wasn't affected. We tried to set up compiz effects on his account and a pop up came up saying that desktop effects can't be enabled. I checked on my account and they worked perfectly. Can someone tell me how can I get them to work on my brother's account?:confused:

The problem is magnifier, do not turn on magnifier on 8.10 or the problem will arise again (I got it fixed by uninstalling compiz and compiz-core in synaptic on another account and reinstalling it (use compiz-check if compiz doesnt work after reinstalling compiz)):popcorn:
