Not even sure I can adequately explain this mess. I started the upgrade and was told it would take about 2 hours to download everything. After about 4 hours, I was only at 53% and had to be somewhere. I let it run and figured I'd finish the upgrade when I got home. During that time my screensaver kicked in. When I attempted to type in the password to get back in my system I got an error telling me that the password unlock service was not running and that I'd have to kill the lock service via PID. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that without being able to bypass the password lock to get back into the system. Couldn't switch to another login. I had no choice but to simply kill the power and reboot.

Rebooting simply dies. There's some errors saying that the filesystem is "read only" and then it just hangs. I can boot into recovery mode, however.

I'm having to use my WinXP partition at the moment. How do I fix this problem??
