Cant find the x386 version of Ubuntu 8.10 64bit for Intel M/c

I have a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600@2.40GHz on a S975XBX2 motherboard machine. I have ubuntu 8.04 installed.

I intend to install a new version of 8.10.

I tried downloading the 64bit version of ubuntu 8.10 and it provides the following file for download: ubuntu-8.10-desktop-amd64.iso

How can i ensure that I get the x386 version of ubuntu 8.10 64bit?

x86 or i386 is 32bit, so you won't find a 64bit version of that.

Or, in other words, the AMD64 version is the one you want. AMD was first to the table with the enhanced instruction set, Intel copied it. Therefore, it is named AMD64...

It will work fine on your Intel CPU.

If you want to keep up with the x86 naming convention I believe yours would be a 1086. :)
