Bottom panel gone?

I used AWN manager as bottom panel before and after I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 it stopped working, My Firefox and program icons were somewhere else?

I uninstalled the awn manager and tried do add a normal panel but my programs doesn't use it when I minimized programs etc...

If I understand you correctly, just right-click on the panel, and click Add to Panel, and scroll down until you see "window list". Double click it and you should be able to see your minimized programs.
