Hello,
I have never used linux/ubuntu before and now i want to get to know it.
I have a Dell M1330 laptop running vista and i really dont want to mess up the already existing partitions.
So my idea was to install Ubuntu 8.10 to my 16GB SD card and boot it from there. The problem i that the M1330 bios doesnt support boot from SD card, so i will have to use some kind of bootloader (Hopefully the vista bootloader).
I've booted from the ubuntu CD and tried to install to the SD card but when the install reaches 95% and it tries to install the bootloader (to the sd card) an application called ubiquity crashes and the install stops?!
I have succesfully installed ubuntu to the SD card without installing a bootloader. Then i just tried to make an entry in the vista bootloader using FreeBCD, pointing to the SD card.
But that doesnt work either?
Any ideas? Am i just a noob? Is it just impossible to boot from the SD card?

Thanks,
MvQ
