Today is a sad day for those of us who believe in the patent system.
Conversely, today is a wonderful day for all of us who have unsuccessfully sought to weaken patent rights.

Software patents haven't been destroyed, just weakened a bit. It's going to make it a little harder to get them, but they're not gone yet.

If it's true then it's a bad day for Nathan Myhrvold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Myhrvold) and his company Intellectual Ventures (http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_27/b3991401.htm).
