I'm having a problem after updating from 8.04 to 8.10 using http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-upgrade-ubuntu-8.04-to-ubuntu-8.10-desktop-and-server what's explained there.
Now when I turn on the computer and type in my username / password, nothing shows up, I only get an orange background with the courser on.

If I start the terminal and type gksudo nautilus I get this message:

Initializing nautilus-share extension
seahorse nautilus module initializedNautilus-Share-Message: Called "net usershare info" but it failed: 'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare: cannot open usershare directory /var/lib/samba/usershares. Error No such file or directory
Please ask your system administrator to enable user sharing.

** (nautilus:6141): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: Operation not supported

Then the wallpaper shows up, and open the root folder.
Still missing the top and bottom panel, how can I get them? And what do I have to do so they appear everytime I log in.
