VERY slow apt-get in 8.10

Hi! I installed Kubuntu 8.10 today and i found out that apt-get is very slow. I was installing Emesene and it took about 20 minutes. It was downloading at 15kb/s... if it was downloading! most of the time it was [Waiting headers].... then it started the download, then waiting headers again... then i used the "Find best server" option but it hangs while doing it...

Is there a problem with the servers or there's something wrong with my pc?

PD: I live in Chile, and i dont speak spanish so i don't speak english very well..

I suspect everyone is upgrading at the moment so the servers will be slow.

I was having trouble updating my sources .list yesterday, because the servers were so busy, things should start settling now that most people have finished their upgrades.
