Ok, a few weeks ago I did the upgrade-package -d and leapt into intrepid.
Ubuntu 8.10 kernel 2.6.27-7-generic fails for me by taking me into a command mode that does nothing but complain about not finding memory and disks shortly after grub (the orange load bar comes up then it drops to a command prompt of some sort which I don't recognise and can do nothing with).
I've removed Ubuntu 8.10 kernel 2.6.27-7-generic via synaptic and now everything works because I've dropped back a level. However, why isn't update manager trying to reload that kernel level again?
