View Full Version : [ubuntu] Dell Mini 9 Partition layout

I'm thinking of getting a Dell Mini 9 next week.
I'll be getting a 8Gb SD card as well to use with the 8Gb SSD

What is the best way to use / partition the SSD and SD cards?

a) Should /Home be on the SD card? (can move it between systems easier.)
b) Keep /Home on the SSD and use the SD card for /, swap and /tmp (Since if the SD fails all i need is to reinstall and update)
c) Keep / and /home on the SSD and stick /tmp and swap on to the SD card? (So all i need to do is stick in a new SD card with Swap /tmp partitions)

Since it's probably the SD card that will fail first out of them which would be the easiet to recover from.

(*note* I WILL be doing backups, this is just in relation to recovery from wear 'n' tear of the Flash drives.)

Any ideas, comments welcomed :D

you would probably be better checking out a forum for the dell mini or eeepc or aspire one they will have sections on the setup's
