If you experience that your upgrade is being downloaded too slowly, do the following:
0. Abort the upgrade. This can be safely done during the download stage.
1. Go to System->Administration->Software Sources.
2. In the Server drop list, choose "Other".
3. Use "Select best server" (or whatever it is called in the English Ubuntu).
4. Save and restart the upgrade.
Yes, it's trivial, but it's a little tip that will help you and if people start to do this regularly also others will profit as the bandwith load will be more distributed and everyone will get the upgrade faster.
