Update to (x)ubuntu 8.10 keeping my desktop settings

I just wonder if an update of my xubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 will maintain my specific desktop setting like panel settings (number, placement, features on them), custom keybord shortcuts, gtk theme and stuff like this ....?????

If you are updating from within the system, yes.
If you are doing a clean install, no.
If you do a clean install and have /home on its own partition, yes.
