View Full Version : [ubuntu] alternate disk required for software raid install that's already set up?

I know the alternate disk is required to install to a new software raid or lvm, but if the software raid volume is already set up, do I still need to use the alternate or can I use the standard install disk?

I want to do a "fresh" install on my root volume and leave my home partition as it is (so, not quite an "upgrade" as in clicking the upgrade button, but as far as only reinstalling on the root partition).

Safest choice is the alternate disk. If you have lots of bandwidth you could try a live desktop CD first and see if recognizes your software raid. I'm not sure if it would or not.

Thanks, I guess I will just have to try both if I feel like it.
