What version did you first download for 8.10? Or, if you downloaded more than one at once, what is will be your primary one?

Poll options limited, so don't complain.

Only Ubuntu Intrepid Desktop 64bit. When i install another it will be another distro entirely. I decided a while ago that i'm a gnome man.

I think the post above is spam.

What poll?

I downloaded Hardy 8.04

Everyone knows the poll comes after the thread. Y'all will get over it.

Ditto: My first download was 7.04 Desktop, followed soon after by the alternate disk. The first 8.10 I downloaded was the regular desktop edition, followed by the 64-bit version desktop edition, followed by the alternate disk. No wonder my monthly data allowance is rapidly disappearing a week or so after being reset: together with the updates, and tinkering with various packages and fixing messups, it soon adds up.

Regular...

That says nothing ;) Was it the desktop or alt? Was it x86 or x64? Did you use http or torrent?

Tell me, why is x64 not regular? Most CPU's on desktops sold are 64 bit.

Ordinarily I prefer KDE (especially now with the neat things KDE 4 can do) but I torrented the standard one instead. I've decided to give Gnome another chance.

Fortunately if I get tired of it I can just install a different DE.

I can hardly wait to install and try all the new stuff (I have the disk, just haven't booted it yet).

Desktop gnome. I can't stand KDE.
It was actually the release candidate, now that I think about it. I always install a day or 2 early, to beat the rush.

Was it x86 or x64?
7.04:I am not sure, to be honest.
8.10:x86 I won't live without flash these day's

Did you use http or torrent?
Http

My new connection, does not like torrent's.

Flash works fine, at least, for me. I installed through the repos as usual and it just worked.

Desktop i386 through HTTP.
I find BitTorrent transfers go slower for me (No matter how much I change seeding, etc).

Which version of flash the official, or one of the others. Because the others have been hit and miss with me on performance. But if it is the official I might try it out once I get all my data backed up (not related to reinstalling I just have lot of data I want backed up right now).

i downloaded the 64bit desktop and alternate iso through torrent.

i also upgraded to intrepid r.c. a couple days ago.

when a make a fresh install i prefere the minimal cd
or the alternate iso(hd install) to install a cli system
and then install xfce4 and other apps.

I grabbed the Xubuntu 8.10 Desktop CD for the x86 architecture via a torrent. Still seeding it, btw.

I'm also upgrading an existing Hardy install on another machine.
