Hi there, I'm trying to set up an office server for my web design business. Something I can use to test out my clients website, and something that I can use as a development server for ruby on rails.

I've installed Ubuntu Server 8.10 with LAMP and samba, but I need some help connecting to my wireless network. Unfortunately, the box that I'm using for a server is a few years old and doesn't have an ethernet port. All that I have is the wireless card.

I'm brand new to linux, so a really dumbed down tutorial would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
TechWraith

could you run the command 'lspci' (no quotes) and post the results so we can see exactly what type of wireless card you have?

Just thought I'd check to see if anyone could help. I hate asking so frequently, but I really need to get this up and running by the morning...

As always, any help is appreciated!

So you want the server to act as a wireless access point as well?

You did this with LAMP:
http://www.debianadmin.com/ubuntu-lamp-server-installation-with-screenshots.html

I am blocked from this link on my computer here at home, but I think this should help with the wireless access point bit.

and this may point you in the right direction

Ohh, well hopefully this helps. If you have the basic setup:
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/internet/C/wireless-connecting.html

If you want to use the terminal:
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/internet/C/troubleshooting.html

Hope that helps some.

Well darn, just a little bit too late... I'm installing the full ubuntu install right now and configuring it to work like a server. I think this will work.

Thank you all for the help!
