Hi all, I dont know if thats the correct sub forums so feel free to move the thread as needed!

As 8.10 is around the corner, im thinking of of re-installing my ubuntu to 8.10 from start. I could just upgrade it, but i've tinker it and use it so much that some thinks that used to work doesn't anymore, and my /home is utterly filled with junk!!

So the only logical question to my problem is:

is any way to purge everything and all - not just deleting any extra package i've downloaded over the year, but included - and revert back to the default settings, like if i had just installed 8.04 and its (official) updates?

or if that is not possible (b) how to move your /home to a newly installed Ubuntu, when there are hard disk limitations?

What does your /etc/fstab look like? How is your computer partitioned?
