I have a problem with my Xubuntu HH install not passing on the settings on this piece of junk monitor to the TTYs.

This LCD monitor of mine is tempting me to go office space on it. It doesn't play nice with DOS or Linux terminals, in that the monitor start the display it gets off the side of the screen. The effect of this, is that the first 4 or 5 characters on the terminal are not visible. Both windows and X can seem to sort out where the screen starts and stops. However, the text systems don't.

I need to find out how to tell the TTY to start a few more characters out.

Startupmanager doesn't have any option for this.

I was thinking /etc/default/console-setup would be a probable config file to control it but I have no idea how to edit it.

If it is a problem with the monitor, which I think it is, the monitor is a KDS 717s.
