Well, it's certainly minimalist.

I like it.

And will most likely use it, however too bad you can't search for pics.

Agreed. If they added some options for images, maps.etc., I would probably use it. Although the smiling people logo reminds me too much of a recruitment pamphlet for some college.

Nice. I'd prefer a throw back version from the original "circle of friends" though.

it beats the other default one. that was far too cluttered, although its clear they did it so people could easily get a bit of help if they were new.

i always change mine to google.co.uk/firefox

Question : why do most of us use such a minimalist homepage ( like the standard Google page ) which does not much but websearch when we all have a search field embedded in our browser ?
I used to have google.com as my homepage and it always pissed me off when I started typing something in my firefox embedded search field ( top right corner ) and when the google page was loaded the rest of what I was typing went into the page's search field, so I had to cut&paste it all the time ...
My opinion : best homepage = blank page

i often wonder how many of the models they use in those 'circle of friends' pics, actually use ubuntu (they all look like mac users).

Statistically, if we suppose the 3 people on one of these pics are standard computer users living on Planet Earth, about 3% of one guy uses Linux, and 1/3 of these 3% uses Ubuntu. So that makes 1% of one of the guys uses Ubuntu. Hm ... not much, eh ?
And by the way, do Mac users have a special look ?

It's a blank, satisfied look. Not much different than a Scientologist or someone who's sniffed a lot of paint :)

I kid, I kid, before anyone gets offended.

they wear lots of sweaters that don't look all that warm.

I like the look, but not the lack of functionality. I like being able to jump off to search for images, video and access Google reader from the Start Page.

*STOP STARING AT ME!*

:lolflag:

I go with a blank page usually. In firefox it opens just a little quicker (in IE it takes the same time to open a blank page or a new tab as it is to open a rich page.

The bar above the search box is ugly in my opinion.

They might not actually be finished with it. For example, the search box isn't even centered.

- ugly, "too crammed"
- a failed attempt to mimic google
- ubuntu shop link brings up fake representation of unity
- I do it with ubuntu ... hmm ... please don't, you could hurt yourself

yes I'm poisonous and should be ignored
