Hi there,
in one day the Intrepid Ibex will be availble but release candidate is already around... before updating I want to make sure that the global-menu applet will be working.
So,does anyone has tried and managed to work the global-menu applet (http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu (http://http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/)) with Intrepid Ibex?
Thanks!

Yes... that's what I fear... also I don't think it will be possible to recompile in Intrepid out of the box since hardy versions works with gnome 2.22.3 whereas Intrepid is based on gnome 2.24, so I believe that the source code will have to be patched too...
Anyone else?
Thanks.

Tried to use the .deb on Intrepid. Does not work for me either.
The applet successfully installs, but when I add it to my dock it does nothing ...
I'm trying to compile it ...

EDIT : compilation unsuccessful. My brand new Intrepid even died in the process, I'm now writing from a fresh reinstall ...

it would be great if somebody could post the .deb if they are successful in getting it to work in intrepid

I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid and I'm having the same problems. I can see the option to add Global Menu Applet to my panel but nothing happens when its added. Rebooting doesn't solve it either. Would appreciate it if someone can share a fix for this bug. Thanks.

I found this: http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/issues/detail?id=141 ,
perhaps this could be of some help to someone more technically savvy than I [to make a .deb package for us all? ;)]. Sounds like jibberish to me :/. Seems like a dependency has to be installed and the patch is added into the source from there or something.

when I try to add the applet it says

" The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_GlobalMenuApplet".
Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?
"
Im trying to make my computer look like a mac and here is the tut that i found that says i need this applet http://maketecheasier.com/turn-your-ubuntu-hardy-to-mac-osx-leopard/2008/07/23
