[SOLVED] Driver Update Help

i need help to install a driver for my canon lide30 scanner..i have found the link to get the driver but do not know how to install..i have ubuntu,kubuntu
i am using kde and gnome desktop..
i have been using my xsane scanner on comp but will not let me work right.

If you can upgrade to 8.10 "intrepid ibex", it appears to include the plustek backends. I'm not sure about earlier distributions.
