I want to be a doctor and it's my first year of college. I want to apply for a paying job or a voluntering job and I want to know your opinion on my resume. Feel free to criticize or make fun of how bad it probably is. Thank you, very appreciated!

To preempt the non-Americans going "zomg that's too short!":

In the US, we have resumes, and they're ridiculously short as compared to your CVs.

EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVE
• To utilize my skills and contribute to the work environment.
Remove this. A resume will be glanced at, make the most interesting information first. Assume the person looking at it, if it is looked at, will have a stack of 500, and an hour to "read" them all.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
• Wayne State University, Detroit, Mi. (2007-)
• Major: Biology (Pre-Med)
• XXXXX High School, XXXXXX, MI. (2004-2007)
See first comment. Put your grades, and notable achievements here.

High School Courses taken:
• Calculus (2007)
• AP American History (2007)
• AP Spanish (2007)
• Anatomy (2007)
• AP Physics (2006)

WORK EXPERIENCE
• None

Cut this out. Explain in the cover letter why you don't have work experience. Don't flaunt it here.

SPECIAL SKILLS
• Semi-Fluent in Spanish.
• Can type 85 words per minute.
• Worked at register for 2 years
• Courses in Advanced Computer Training.

Now this is good! Put it above the high school courses. This is what will get you a job.

HOBBIES AND OTHER INTERESTS
• Key Club and Sadd (Students against Drunk Driving).
• School sports: Football, Track, and Baseball
• Passion to help people
• Church volunteer

Make references a separate sheet. Have the same header as your resume.

Wow thank you so much! I wasn't expecting someone to give me that much.

No problem. I have read a lot of books on it. This was the best: http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Recruiting-Director-Insiders-Landing/dp/0735204047

Almost everything I said is from that book. (I have a good memory).

May God Bless!

Hope so.

Haha yeah. What should be the first thing I put on that page instead of what I have?

It's not necessary to have an objective, but it doesn't hurt. They can just skip it.

Ok educational background seems a good way to start it then.

An objective, especially the one above, hurts. It is obvious out of a manual, and boring. An objective would be good if you have a really specific one besides "get money and experience".

Hey future colleague ;)

What job are you looking for? Usually you should prepare a CV for each job application, especially the objective of the CV, for example what is the cause you've written this application?

CV Objectives

* Computer/Customer Support
* Web hosting support
* Programming
* Systems Administrator

..and so on.. :)

You won't have much time after the 3rd year though :) I don't know how things are in US, here in Serbia I get paged/beeped by the attendant every SOOO often and unexpectedly.

Wish you luck and succes!
