I just purchased a microsoft intellimouse explorer 2.0 however it does not work. Anyone know how I can install drivers for this mouse?

do you have legacy usb enabled in your bios?

Restart your computer. When it first starts up, it'll ask you to press a button to enter the SETUP, it's usually F2 or Delete. Hit the button and it'll take you into the BIOS. From there, the USB Legacy setting will probably be on the first screen.

I did not see anything relating to USB legacy mode. I am running Phoenix- AwardBIOS

Under the option Integrated peripherals -> USB device setting there were two options:
Controller [Enabled/Disabled]
Operation mode [High Speed/High-Low Speed]

I had the older version of this keyboard mouse set - the Wireless Optical mouse and everything worked fine.
