I have tried to burn Xubuntu 8.04.1 (Hardy Heron) to CD as listed on http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/hardy/release/

But have been unable to burn it to CD (Error due to possible over-burn)
I have successfully burnt it to DVD so the file is ok.

The old PC I want to try it on doesn't have a DVD only CD reader/writer.

The downloaded file size is 544.2 MB the site clearly says that you can burn it to CD.

(The desktop CD allows you to try Xubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type of CD is what most people will want to use. You will need at least 128MB of RAM to install from this CD.)

Any idea's what the problem might be?

If you have not already done so try burning at x4 or less and maybe even try another burn program like imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/) to burn it..

Or you could use wubi to install Ubuntu, that way you don't have to burn anything.
