I just accidently erased a file.
Can anyone tell me where to look to recover it?
I don't care how much searching I have to do
I just need the file.

Open your "Home" folder. In the toolbar at the top open the viewing options and select the option "Show Hidden Folders".

Look for and check inside of .trash for your missing file or files.

A "." before a folder or file name makes the file or folder invisible unless, and until, you've enabled viewing hidden files and folders.

Oh, forgot too mention there's the regular trash bin found most easily, I suppose, under your "Places" menu.

Well you're welcome. That IS the goal, typically, you know...
I'm just not as good at it as some others around here are.

;)

Glad you found what you were looking for.

Look in /home/[username]/.local/share/Trash/files

what about for people not using a GUI? You mean for folks using rm from command line? /dev/null? ;)
