Hi, I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 desktop while inside a winxp install by inserting the ubuntu disk, then running the 2nd option of the three which said that it would install Ubuntu with minor negatives such as hibernation not working and a "slight performance hit when accessing the drive" (I'm just going on memory here.

It is also strange but I don't see the internal c drive anywhere in the folders list.

I also have a problem deleting jpegs from my external drive in ubuntu from within the image-viewing app, it says "can't find trash".

but ok do I need to do something like mount hda1 to see the internal drive?
it isn't showing up in the mount folder.

Other than that it seems to work ok but what is the big difference between doing the install this way and doing it as say a dual-boot if I had booted off the ubuntu cd and installed it that way?

Other than the effects noted here already

thanks

Well, the biggest difference is that Ubuntu is installed, as if it were a program, inside the Windows partition. A regular installation creates separate partitions for Ubuntu.
