OK, we had the "what are you listening to now?" thread....

...now this is the "what's your current favorite streaming radio site?" thread. \\:D/

Post either the live stream url or the web site:

My two favorites are:
1. KFAT; sort of country/alt/rock/hippie station:
http://www.kfat.com/kfat_128.m3u

2. WCBN; the local collage radio station in my area (University of Michigan), which is some various formats and a lot of freeform.
http://141.211.232.136/wcbn-hi.m3u

Also, what program do you use for listening to streaming music on your Ubuntu box?

I use mostly XMMS.

I used to subscribe to the awesome boombastic radio, back when I worked at a job which didn't mind the extra bandwidth being wasted.

They seem to have changed to http://www.etherbeat.com/, but they still offer the free lower-quality stream and the subscriber high quality access.

I haven't really listened to much streaming music because I always prefer my music collection. But I was wondering, is there any comedy internet radio stations?

My current favorite is moodance.com (NRG/techno/euro electronica) .... they're currently only doing a show on Monday nights 6pm - 8pm PST - but that's until they move in January - then it will be all moodance all the time. LOL

2BR (http://www.2br.co.uk/) because it comes from my home town of Burnley, England.

It's strange hearing the adverts in my local accent.

Soma is great, and I also sometimes listen to DI. But the best ones are:

Philosomatika (http://www.philosomatika.com/) - Psychedelic Trance and Techno with high quality.
Monkey Radio (http://www.monkeyradio.org/) - TripHop, Breakbeat, Acid Jazz, anything with groovy beats.

KEXP (http://www.kexp.org/) - Even though I live nowhere near Seattle, I'm a big fan of this station. Non-commercial, and a great mix of contemporary independent/alternative rock and pop.

EDIT-- Oh, and Beep Media Player.

Streamtuner has too many choices, like using a different station each day. Especially different geographical sources, like to pretend I am not here at home.

"Random Loveline" on shoutcast.com [Talk/Comedy] (http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=random%20loveline)

Call-in radio show primarily for relationship, sexuality, and drug addiction problems, a comedic radio and television personality, a board-certified physician and addiction medicine specialist, and (usually) a guest. Good times. They're all recorded shows from 1996-2005, but I've noticed primarily from 2002-05.

Hello! I've tried many of these stations but keep getting the error message
"A text/html decoder plugin is required to play this stream, but not installed." Can anyone help with this issue? Thanks in advance.

Open up a terminal Applications > Accessories > Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras totem-mozilla

This should do the trick.

As I'm born and bred in Huddersfield so I have to say:
PennineFM (http://www.penninefm.com) - Contemporary and classic hits for Huddersfield. Includes schedule information. Available on FM.

I tend to use ShoutCast (http://ShoutCast.com) but, also use YouTube (http://youtube.com) to play, play, play music videos :)

I also have 2,354 music tracks on the comp to play

1) In addition to the two stations in my signature, I like KUVO Denver (http://www.kuvo.org/) - jazz, blues & Latin jazz on public radio.

2) Audacious.

I'm a streamtuner fan myself, and a longtime listener of shoutcast broadcasting. I jump all over shoutcast via streamtuner. If you've never used it before, its in the repos, and a great single point of streaming radio, not just for shoutcast but for a few other services as well.

When I am not listening to shoutcast, I am streaming Sirius. Its not free, but I like the option to listen to my satellite radio stations over the net. I am a big fan of it in the car, as my local radio stations are HORRIBLE song killers (known to play the same song sometimes upwards of 3 times in less than an hour.) I am a fan of Sirius Blues, Alt-Nation, Left of Center, Sirius Punk, and sometimes Octane, though they loop more than the other stations do.

<Ctrl>-D. :)

I listen to Radio Margaritaville a lot: http://radiomargaritaville.com/streams/radiomargaritavillehi.asx (Streaming WMA, opens in Totem) or http://radiomargaritaville.com/streams/radiomargaritavillehi.asx (Real Audio, and I don't know what that opens in because I don't use it)

Martha's Vineyard Radio: Homepage is here (http://mvyradio.com/), with a variety of free listening options.

I'll have to add more later in another post; I have to leave the house in a few minutes.
