Ubuntu Installer

Hi,
am new to linux and i would like to try ubuntu hardy with windows installer.But before starting installation,some one warned me to keep back up all windows data b4 installation.
some grub will replace bootloader and after uninstall ubuntu , u wont be gettin windows back?
Actually am not sure about dat

If all goes well grub will know about your windows installation and it will give you the choice to boot that every time you turn on your computer.

Backing up the existing data is always a good idea, just in case something goes wrong (nothing should, though).
