Hi again folks

i am running a dual boot system of XP and Ubuntu. I recently resized the partitions and reformatted the xp partition with a more recent copy.

Since reformatting the first partition, the comp automatically boots windows, and does not give me the option to boot ubuntu. according to gparted, both partitions still exist. i was very careful not to intentionally do anything to harm the ubuntu partition.

any ideas what happened and how i can fix it???

any help is again appreciated!!!

Reinstall grub (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351&highlight=reinstall+grub) and you should be fine.

Thank you. We recently had to move my sister's dual boot Ubuntu/Win2K Pro system from the original 2 hard disks to one big one because one of the drives was failing. Now, 2k won't boot. (I've gotten past the problem of finding it and editing boot.ini, but it still hangs.) We now have an install CD for XP Pro, and are planning to upgrade. We've got an Ubuntu CD JIC, but I needed the exact commands and your pointer was exactly what I needed.
