I've noticed a LOT of people recommending envy as the first and only solution for graphics issues in the Beginner Talk section recently... is this REALLY what we want people to be using? I thought hardware drivers was supposed to eliminate this for most cases, and the rest of the cases often have simple issues that can be solved without envy that will leave the user better off in the future.

So in short... do we as a community still recommend Envy, or are some people still going off of Edgy Eft info?

Hardware Drivers only uses whatever drivers were in the repos at the time of that release. Envy uses the very latest drivers from nvidia and ati. Alberto has recently worked with the Ubuntu devs to make envy more compatible so that you can do distribution upgrades without crashing X.

So, yes. Envy is still a viable choice.
