In order to switch completely to Linux, I would need to be able to access various company VPNs. Most companies provide an executable to setup the VPN software (which also has the connection info).

How would I access these company VPNs using Linux? Is it possible to run the software in WINE - or in VirtualBox? If so, what are the hurdles / downside to these approaches.

Thanks for any help.

It depends on the VPNs and how they're set up. Ubuntu has native support for a variety of VPN products, but there are some (including my company's VPN) that may require some tweaking on the network admin's part.

After several hours of googling, I have not found a solution for connecting to a Checkpoint VPN. Anyone else have luck?

You guys do not supply much information to start with, what encryption type is used etc.

Thanks for the links to other people that have failed to get it running. I especially like the last one for setting up a vpn in Windows 95. I really should figure out how to use the google.

Seriously, what is the complete list of information that is relevant for connecting to a CheckPoint VPN?

Have you searched the forums? I found some helpful info in these threads:

If the advice here doesn't work for you, then you need to be a lot more specific about the problems you are having.

I have a few words for you but they will not be allowed here.

If you read those links you will see some people have it working in more than one way. Sorry if it was not a detailed step by step guide handed to you on a silver platter but I was hoping it might be a start.

As for the last link if you scroll towards the bottom you will see linux related stuff. I posted that link just in case as I have no idea what your network looks like.

As for your last question, I'm done here, I dont see why you should be helped with the attitude you have.
