View Full Version : [ubuntu] getting rid of windows installation

HI I have loaded ubuntu as a test and i really like it..When I installed i chose the option to run alonside windows...i now have a windows and ubuntu booting machine. Can you help me with instructions on getting rid of the windows and expanding the space into ubuntu?

Well, you put the ubuntu CD in, start from the cd, and when it shows the options, you choose "install". and then, you choose: use entire disk
That way, he will kick window's *** :)

Thanks but i really dont want to reinstall..my dvd rom is no working..i ran the installation originally from within windows..williebear

Your original question indicated you had two side-by-side installations: Windows and Ubuntu. In fact, you have Ubuntu installed INSIDE Windows, and no, there is no way to remove Windows and leave Ubuntu intact. You would have to completely reinstall Ubuntu from scratch.

Thanks that answered my question... i had afeeling that was the case as it still listed files system as ntfs....thanks ..i feel a new install coming on
