Recently i hv started download through 'amule'. To find where it put the downloaded file i had to click "view > Show Hidden Files" . Then a lots of folders showed. So these folders were hidden by default !!
How can i hide a folder myself? I didnt find any option in there ...

just put a '.' at the beginning of the file name. that'll hide it.

Ctrl + h in most file managers will toggle between showing and hiding.
There is no special hidden attribute, just the . in front of the name. ("ls -a" will show them in the terminal as well)

afaik, you can put a tilda (~) at the end of a file name to hide it as well.

It works with Nautilus, Thunar; doesn't with Konqueror.
