Ubuntu will only load IF

*brand new to linux/ubuntu*

Hi everyone. Ubuntu will only load when I have usb disabled in BIOS. Strange thing is the mouse and keyboard connected to the usb ports function ok when USB is enabled, but ubuntu refuses to load, kicking me to busybox.

Some hardware info:
abit p35 board
seagate sata 300gb formatted with gparted
intel c2d e6850

Any help is appreciated.

is USB set to boot first?
If so, you may just need to make it boot from HDD first.
