Mobile Companion that at 95mm by 65mm and only 15.5mm high is as portable as a mobile phone. Yet the WiFi enabled device comes with a full QWERTY/AZERTY keyboard, an 8GB SD card slot, a 2.8 inch QVGA display and an option to convert the USB for use with an HSDPA dongle, making it a fully functional communicating and browsing device and a viable substitute for a laptop.

...???

i can either have a keyboard, but no real display.

or a display, and i need a small rat to do my typing for me.

the only software spoken of is Opera 4.1 and the kernel.

meh, i suppose they will sell a few for novelty sake.

This device looks to be less useful than a mobile phone, take the screen, QVGA? this is an absolutely useless 320x240.

I supose they mean the 2.6.19 kernel and not 2.4.19? I can't believe it runs on the ancient 2.4 series??

Looking at the other specs and versions I'm pretty sure it's 2.4 :p

I don't see what the beef is. Exactly how much do you expect from a 3" screen? I just saw this the other day and really fell in love with it. As cell phones become more and more mainstream I find myself parting with that technology. I don't even have a cell phone now. $40 extra in my pocket every month :D I think this thing would be pretty cool for taking notes in class maybe and as long as I can get an ssh and iax client for this then I might buy it. My main compliant would be the lack of a trackball or touch sensitive pad for mouse navigation. I really hate using a little d-pad type thing to move a mouse pointer...

Sadly the press release for this is about 5 months old and there is still no new news or available product. I hope everything is well.
