I'm now going to clear some hard drive space and want to copy some files to dvd, mainly tv series.

The problem I have is I remember coming across occasional corruption manifesting in jumps, pixelation, strange colours last time I watched it and can't remember where.

Next time I watch the series I don't want these problems, usually I would just wait to find them and replace the file, however I don't want to have series spit across DVD's because of corruption

Is there a program I can use to check for both large and small errors in avi files so I don't have to watch the episodes again before I back them up.

any help is appreciated :-)

You can check for errors with DivFix++ (http://divfixpp.sourceforge.net/home.htm).

You can't find it in the repos or getdeb.net, unfortunately.

If you have a 64bit system, then you can download a binary from its site, otherwise you'll have to compile it yourself.
