touchpad mouse

the touchpad on my laptop works fro moving the mouse around, but the tap to click function is really sketchy. i installed ubuntu so i could use it for school however i had to uninstall it because i cannot use tap to click. is there someway to fix this?

Did you look in preferences under mouse? In the mouse thing there is a touchpad tab and you can turn it on and off well you can in mine.

its turned on. but when i tap to click on something it will work sometimes, like moving the cursor in a document, however most of the time it won't work. double clicking on something requires many many clicks. some times i will have to click 10 or more times just to get to clicks to register in a row.

What is the double click time-out rate set at make sure it's not too high.
