I see there are alot of math programs in the repos. I am looking for something to replace my ti-83 style graphing calculator with. Anyone have any recommendations?

I know the calculator that comes with ubuntu by default when putting it in advanced mode has let me do anything I needed for algebra.

one of my professors uses scheme as a calculator.. but I guess you dont need a programming language to help you calculate what you are doing :)
if you get free version of matlab for mackintosh you can change it a little and you will be able to run it on linux.
My friend uses Octave and it might be what you are looking for.

KDE comes with KmPlot, which may not be complete enough to suit your needs.
