View Full Version : [ubuntu] Need Help Installing Ubuntu On Part Of Second Hard Drive

I've installed Ubuntu 8.04 successfully before when I had one hard drive, but I'm a particularly experienced user and I can't seem to figure out what to do to get it installed the way I want with my new setup.

I have two drives; my primary drive is a 250 GB drive with Windows Vista on it. My second drive is 500 GB, and I want to give about 200 GB over to a new installation of Ubuntu

But I'm running into trouble when I reach disk partitioning. I assume I have to do so manually, but all my attempts to do so run into one problem or another (not have a usable file system is one error I keep running into and none of the choices to fix this seem to work, and I'm not sure whether to have it boot from dos or windows), and I'm really not sure how to go about this. So if anybody can tell me what to do or point me at documentation, I'd appreciate it.
