I'm heading to South America to go backpacking around next year, and I'd like to take a handheld GPS with me. Mostly to have maps for the major cities, but it'd also be fun to log any hikes and travel we do for mapping later. I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with these, and any recommendations for me!

Must haves:
- Linux friendly!
- Able to load open-street-maps maps
- Light, reliable, and good battery life

Things that'd be nice:
- Trek route storage (not sure what this is properly called)
- Able to save locations, so that I can later go and geo-tag photos
- Voice direction (in case I'm driving)

I'm grateful for any suggestions anyone has! :)
