On my mythtbuntu gutsy desktop I had to logout unexpectedly, and now whenever I login I get a desktop with a blue background, no panels except this one weird one, and some other crap. Here's a picture:

(That's the gimp, there)

Anyway, I figure it's something like gnome, or the windows manager or whatever (I am not good with computer) didn't start up correctly. I've tried restarting, and nothing happened. The login screen is the same as ever, I feel I should note.

Please help me!

can you try making another user account, and see if that does it too?

if that fixes it, you could try wiping the gnome preferences - i think it's the .gnome folder and/or .gnome2. You can just rename them to .gnome-backup and .gnome2-backup, see if that fixes it.
