Help needed in Paritioning.........

I have two 500GB HDD in my machine. I would like to install Ubuntu 8.04 Server operating system in my machine. The installation can consume both of the disks completely, How can I partition these disk effectively.... I system needed to install MySQL and the database files can grow as large as possible too....

Haven't use LVM (Logical volume management) in a couple of years. But a couple of things I remember about it. There is an option to setup LVM with a server install. and LVM can be setup to make both drives look like one big hard drive. You can add more drive to LVM and make it larger still if you need.

Not much more help than that. Might give the server section of the the forum a seach.
