Digiorno vs Delissio

Why is the pizza in the U. S. named Digiorno named Delissio in Canada?

It could be due to branding/trademark issues etc.

Anyway, if it comes out of a packet I would not call it a pizza.

Pizza is something made with fresh dough & fresh ingredients, like I had yesterday ;)

Excellent point about pizza. However, I'm sure it is a branding issue but I'm just curious as to why they use a different brand in Canada than in the U. S. Is Digiorno a word that has negative connotations or is offencive?

I do not see that word being offensive or having negative connotations in either english or french which are Canadas official languages.

I suspect at the time someone else was already using the product name.

Or Delisso was already established in Canada when it was bought out or merged.

I think it would be a lot less confusing if they would decide on a name - especially for border states/provinces that get amerikan and canadian cable.

It's not really something horribly important - I was just wondering. In upstate NY we get both Canadian and U. S. television so sometimes those ads confuse me.
