On my PC, I have windows as my main OS. I have a D:\ and a C:\ for a hard disk.

Everything installs to D:\, and I was wondering, seeing as my C:\ has 30gb of space available, could I install Ubuntu onto it and boot from it? And will it stuff up my windows?

the C: is an internal memory drive.

Yes you can install there and no it won't destroy your windows.

Have a look at this site, it should help you to install to a new partition -

Once you've installed there will be a new bootloader with ubuntu and windows on it, if you have vista use the vista disk management tool to resize the partition, if not use the one on the livecd.
